The women's association “El Trebol” is composed of 74 female-owned farms, with women working at the farms as pickers and farm administrators. The association was born out of necessity to help establish healthier prices for female producers and their quality work. Often internal origin differentials for cherry were not even covering the cost of production. This is where our exporter, Colombian Spirit, has been able to help. The first year they were able to purchase 35 bags from around half of their producers. However, since 2019 we are proud to say that with Anthem Coffee Imports partnership, they have been able to purchase all of their production at great prices.

The farms range in size between 0.5 - 5 hectares in size, with all of the farms being shade grown, with no direct sun exposure. This allows slower ripening and greater sugar concentration, leading to a sweeter and more complex coffee offering. All of the producers are growing the coffee variety castillo, which helps with coffee leaf rust resistance and overall yield, while still maintaining great cup quality. We are excited to partner with this association of farms and to have this coffee in our lineup.
