Located in the village of Gaitania, Colombia, Emmanuel is a coffee grower who learned the craft from his parents. In 2006, he expanded his knowledge of modern coffee farming techniques, focusing on new processes, quality control, and specialty coffee varieties. However, he and other small farmers faced a common issue: the inability to produce large quantities due to the lack of a central processing center.
In 2016, Emmanuel addressed this by creating a coffee processing center, bridging over 15 villages in Gaitania. This initiative, known as the Black Condor Project, developed drying stations to ensure quality and consistency. By paying producers 30% above market rates, the project collaborates with 30-45 independent producers, making it a sustainable and unique venture in the region.
