Haroo Natural hails from the Haroo Waccuu washing station in Uraga, Guji, Ethiopia's Oromia Region. Although often mistaken as Sidamo Guji, it's rightly known as Guji Zone or East-Guji. About 20 farmers from Haroo village, at elevations of 2,100 to 2,350 m.a.s.l., deliver cherry to this station, primarily growing local landraces and varieties selected for production and disease resistance.
Processed by Sookoo Coffee, led by Ture Waji, affectionately known as "The King of Guji," this lot represents just one of their drying stations in Uraga and Shaakkiso. While they currently focus on natural coffees, washed coffees are planned for future harvests. Ture's deep ties to the region and farming community, coupled with his meticulous protocols, ensure exceptional quality in every lot.
We're excited to offer Haroo Natural, sourced from multiple drying stations this season, each boasting complexity and cleanliness with unique profiles. Sookoo Coffee's strict drying methods, including controlled layer density and frequent rotation, contribute to the outstanding quality.
Beyond coffee, Ture and his team prioritize community development, offering education, pre-harvest loans, and empowering women in the workforce. With improved infrastructure and a commitment to sustainability, Haroo Natural is more than just coffee – it's a testament to the dedication and impact of those who produce it.
