Over the last 100 years or so, Papua New Guinea has distinguished itself as a prominent coffee growing region. Specifically over the last decade or so, it has also become a haven for some of the most savory and sweet coffees we have had the pleasure of serving, and Namaro is no exception. Located in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea, the mountainous terrain, the region's climate, and its proximity to the equator make it an ideal location for growing quality coffee.
The population of the Eastern Highlands is particularly dependent on the coffee industry, as several companies that assist in the production and distribution of coffee have headquarters in Goroka, the capital city of the province. This coffee comes to us by way of Benchmark Coffee Traders, a company whose mission is “to represent the estates’ top grades, connect roasters with production, and to act as a true sourcing partner... we bring roasters an ability to source some of Papua New Guinea’s best coffees with a level of traceability that has not previously been possible for coffees from this origin.” We have worked with this company for nearly five years and we couldn’t be more delighted to serve another excellent and unique offering from them and their contacts in PNG.
We believe this coffee can be enjoyed as either an espresso or filter offering, as the brewer seeks to highlight both its sweet and savory qualities. A delicious offering that will not disappoint, we are excited for you to try it in shop or at home.
